Sarah ‘Lillian’ Freedman

Lillian Freedman, 93, Alexandria, Va., formerly of Altoona, passed away Saturday at her residence. Lillian moved from Altoona to Alexandria in 1998.
She was born in Braddock, daughter of the late Maxwell and Helen (Schrager) Hoffman. She married Marvin Freedman, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Kurt Freedman of Pittsburgh; two daughters: Gail Freedman (Scott McCloughan) and Marla Freedman (Darek Heier), both of Alexandria, Va.; and two granddaughters: Megan and Jennifer. She was a source of strength to her family.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sybil Stokols.
She was a member of Temple Beth Israel, Altoona and Beth El Hebrew Congregation in Alexandria, Va. During her time in Altoona, she enjoyed being an active member of Temple Beth Israel’s Sisterhood, and she loved working on the annual “Next to New” sale.
Lillian’s biggest joy in life was her children.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Altoona, by Rabbi Audrey Korotkin.
