Anna B. James

Anna B. James, 88, Tyrone and a guest of Colonial Courtyard, died Monday.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late Lee and Maude (Miller) Lucas. On Aug. 19, 1950, she married Major General Vernon E. James in Winchester, Va., and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2010.

Surviving are three children: Deborah Walk of Tyrone, Joy (Robert) Branstetter of Philipsburg and Stephen (Susan) James of Tyrone; four grandchildren: Todd (Rachel) Walk, Jamie (Brian) Wagner, Christie (Gabe) Gates and Ashley (Jordan) Good; two step-grandchildren: Bob (Jen) Branstetter and Melissa (John) Bertinatti; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Harry Lucas. She was the last of her immediate family.

Anna was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone High School and was employed at Proctor Silex before leaving the workforce to become a full time homemaker.

She enjoyed her many trips with her husband to Atlantic City, N.J. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at Christ United Meth­odist Church, Tyrone, Pastor Susan Arnold officiating. Inurnment will be after the service at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. Arrange­ments are by Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
