John Hubert Ream
John Hubert Ream, 86, Swannanoa, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Mission Hospital, Asheville, N.C.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late A. Willard and Alma Knisely Ream.
Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years, Elizabeth Marsh Ream; a daughter, Rebecca (Brett) Strimple; three grandchildren: Nelson, John and Samuel Strimple; and a sister, Martha Atwater.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Hansma.
Hubert graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1955 with a degree in architectural engineering and was an avid PSU football fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and had been stationed in Germany from 1955-57. He worked as an architect for his entire career.
He was a member of Groce United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, Alpha Rho Chi, Scarab, P. Gamma Alpha, and he volunteered at the Rathbun Center. He also was a member of the Beaver Dam Masonic Lodge 276 A.F. and A.M. in Beaver.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 8, 2018, at Groce United Methodist Church, 954 Tunnel Road, Asheville, N.C. A reception will be held afterward at Craggy View Cottages Club House, 134 Outlook Circle, Swannanoa, N.C. Arrangements are by Groce Funeral Home, 856 Tunnel Road, Asheville, N.C.
