James Allen ‘Jim’ Woomer Jr.

James Allen “Jim” Woomer Jr., 79, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday evening at Altoona Center for Nursing Care, after an extended battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Rev. James Allen Sr. and Marietta (Getz) Woomer. On July 20, 1962, he married Muriel F. Hambright in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: the Rev. Rebecca J. McGee and husband, Mark, and Kathy M. Ozio and husband, Matt; a son, James Allen Woomer III; three grandchildren: Noelle and Olivia Ozio and Emerson Woomer; a brother, the Rev. Dr. D. Darrell Woomer and wife, Audrey; and three special cousins: Susy Winters and Allen and Gary Harper.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark E. Woomer.
Jim received a Bachelor of Science degree from Juniata College and served in the Pa. National Guard. He retired as president of Small Tube Products, Duncansville.
He was a member of Hicks United Methodist Church, Duncansville, a volunteer for the Blair County Genealogical Society and a member of the “Counsel of the 12.”
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at Hicks United Methodist Church, Duncansville, the Rev. Rich Morris officiating. Interment will be held at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
