Dennis P. Hummel

Dennis P. Hummel, 78, York, entered into rest on Friday at York Hospital.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Catherine (Hart) Hummel. He leaves behind his longtime sweetheart, Adele Naglieri.
Including his sweetheart, Adele, also surviving are two children: Dennis Hummel II and wife, Sophie, of Morton, Ill., and Amy Hummel Corbin and spouse, Beth Corbin, of Mount Rainier, Md.; two grandsons: Thomas and Andrew Hummel; and a brother, Brian Hummel of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Hummel.
Dennis graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and later worked as an office supervisor for Caterpillar, retiring after 34 years of service.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, York, as well as the Knights of Columbus and the ROF of Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, and he was a board member of the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, York, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, his pastor, the Rev. Stephen Fernandes celebrant. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements are by Keffer Funeral Home, York.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York, PA 17402, or to the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy in Newfield, N.J.
