Dr. George A. Nohaile

Dr. George A. Nohaile, 85, a resident of the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Nagib A. “Jim” and Mary E. (Haddad) Nohaile.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Michael Nohaile (Dr. Kristin Yarema) of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; a sister, Geebie Nohaile (James B.) Miller of Springettsbury; two grandchildren: Maeve and Nieve Nohaile; a dear friend, Carol Makdad of Altoona; several nieces and nephews; and Janet Soyster Wilt of Vero Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Nohaile.
George attended Franklin & Marshal College, and he was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He did his internship at Metropolitan Hospital of New York City and completed his residency at the University of Texas. He retired as a self-employed oral surgeon for Nohaile Oral Surgery Clinic after 50 years of service.
He was a faithful member of St. George Orthodox Church, Altoona. He was also a member of the American Dental Association.
George enjoyed trap and skeet shooting, fishing and gardening.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a Trisagion service will be held. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at St. George Orthodox Church, Altoona, Father Isaac Danevicius officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
