Harold G. Claar

Harold G. Claar, 78, Osterburg, passed away Tuesday at Windber Hospice.
He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Ira and Goldie (Walter) Claar. On July 10, 1959, he married Patricia Feathers in Winchester, Va., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2004.
Surviving are two sons: Chris (Candace) Claar and Brian (Deborah) Claar, both of Osterburg; two grandchildren: Cortney and Derrick; two sisters: Eileen Grabill of Imler and Shirley (George) Hartman of Claysburg; a brother, Larry (Ruth) Claar of Claysburg; and a sister-in-law, Joan Wright.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: infant Helen Marie and Mildred Bowers, Ivy Burket and Thelma Yingling; and a brother, Paul Claar.
Harold was a 1958 graduate of Greenfield High School, and when he graduated, he had 12 years of perfect attendance. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-68 and was stationed in France. He co-owned G&C Auto Care from 1969 until his retirement in 2002.
He enjoyed go-cart racing, gardening and his orchard.
Friends will be received from 4 until the 7 p.m. memorial service on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Pastor John Bennett officiating.
