Barbara Deanna ‘Deedee’ Burket
Feb. 24, 1940 - July 5, 2018
Barbara Deanna “Deedee” Burket, 78, Palm Harbor Fla., passed away peacefully on Thursday at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center, North Pinellas County, Fla., after complications from Parkinson’s Disease.
She was born in Roaring Spring, the only child of Dean and Elda (Holsinger) Burket.
She was dearly loved by her parents; friends; and the members of East Lake Methodist Church, Palm Harbor, Fla.
Deedee graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1958 and from Penn State University in 1962. She spent her career as a buyer for retail stores, including Saks and Talbots.
She was an avid sports fan all of her life, cheering for the Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers. Her loudest cheers, however, were saved for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Parkinson’s Disease took her body but never claimed her gentle, sweet nature or her ready laugh.
Her friends wish to thank Stratford Court (her last residence), Meese Country Side Hospital and Suncoast Hospice for their loving care.
Friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, July 13, 2018, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, Pastor Brian Sandell officiating. Interment will be held afterward in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at the East Lake Methodist Church at a later date.
