Joseph M. ‘Joe’ Wyland Jr.

June 13, 1981 – June 10, 2018

Joseph M. “Joe” Wyland Jr., 36, Summerhill, formerly of Loretto, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday. He was born in Johnstown, son of Joseph M. Wyland Sr. and Sharon C. (Craine) Hutchinson.

Surviving are his girlfriend, Kayla Skelly; a daughter, Jordyn Wyland; a stepson, Jaiden Laskowski; his parents; his stepmother, Annette Wyland; his stepfather, Charles Hutchinson; a brother, Justin Wyland; a sister, Emma Wyland; four stepbrothers: Jacob and Stephen Dean and Benjamin and Daniel Hutchinson; a stepsister, Alyssa Dean; paternal grandmother, Kathy Wyland; maternal grandparents: Jacob and Barbara Buck; nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles and countless cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gerald Wyland; a brother, Jeffrey Wyland; two uncles: Eric and Brian Buck; and a cousin, Gregory Lego.

Joe was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Iraq and Korea, receiving two Bronze Star Service Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

He was a member of the Loretto American Legion Post 748 and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding quads, and being with his family.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, the Very Rev. Father John D. Byrnes celebrant. Military honors will be conducted after Mass by the Loretto and Cresson American Legions, the Sankertown VFW and other local veteran organizations.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Joe’s memory may be made to PennCrest Bank, checks made payable to Joseph Wyland, Memo: Jordyn Wyland Trust, 700 Second St., Cresson, PA 16630, in Joe’s memory.
