Janet E. Longenecker

June 1, 1944 – April 14, 2018

Janet E. Longenecker, 73, East Freedom, passed away Saturday at her residence.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Donald I. Grabill and Rita C. (Beigle) Aungst. She was formerly married to Ronald Duane Blackburn and John R. Longenecker.

Surviving are her companion of over 30 years, Don Shock; two daughters: Robin Stern and husband, Brian, of Roaring Spring and Maureen Socie of East Freedom; a grandson, Ryan Hostler; three stepgranddaughters: Natasha Etzweiler and Kara and Sierra Stern; and a half- brother, Mark Aungst.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Grabill.

She was a member of the Central High School Class of 1962 and was employed at Sheetz, McKee, for 27 years and as a waitress at the Old Canal Inn for 45 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.

Janet was one of the first female drag racers at Peterson Memorial Dragway, Tipton, in the 1970s. She was an avid collector of Hallmark Christmas ornaments.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, Pastor John Godissart officiating. Interment will be at Leamersville Riverview Cemetery.
