Margaret E. ‘Peggy’ Woods

Margaret E. “Peggy” Woods, 90, Altoona, went to be with her Lord on Friday evening,

Feb. 16, 2018, at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Harry B. and Edna L. (Peters) Ashburn. She was twice married; first to Harold F. Tromm Sr. on Sept. 25, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2001. She married Carl J. Woods on April 8, 1961, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1986.

Surviving are two daughters: Patty (Tom) Graffious of Saxton and Diane J. (Sebastian) Pugliese of Bellefonte; a special daughter, Lisa Tromm of Altoona; two sons: Fred (Clara) Tromm of Altoona and Ken (Sandy) Tromm of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry B. “Dick” Ashburn Jr. and wife, Pat, of Piqua, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Anne Lane and Frances Walter; and two brothers: Alfred and Robert Ashburn.

Margaret was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School. She had previously worked as a switchboard operator at Pennsylvania Railroad and then at Gables Department Store. She worked in sales at the Young Men’s Shop and in administration for the Pa. Dept. of Highways, Dr. Robert Shaheen and Green Thumb/Experience Works. Lastly, she worked as a information greeter at Altoona City Hall.

She was a member of Altoona Bible Church. For many years, she was actively involved with the ARC of Blair County and Skills of Central Pa.

She loved travel and her Nittany Lion football team, having attended many bowl games across the country.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at

12:30 p.m. Monday, Pastor Stewart McClelland of Altoona Bible Church officiating. A private inurnment will be at Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
