Frances C. ‘Dolly’ McMinn

Frances C. “Dolly” McMinn, 95, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord early on Tuesday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born in Osceola Mills, daughter of the late Duncan and Edith (Myers) Ferguson. On April 26, 1947, she married Richard L. McMinn at the Assembly of God Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1985.

Surviving are two daughters: Mary Ellen McMinn, with whom she resided; Ruth Louise England and husband, Bruce T., of Altoona; a grandson, Ryan England and wife, Rebekah, of Enola, and their children: Chloe, Andrew and Caleb; a granddaughter, Emily Shock and husband, Eric, of Altoona, and their children: Matthew, Jordan, and baby Lucas due in April; and two sisters: Winifred Edevane and Marguerite Cogan, both of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Maines, James, Robert, George, Annie Stahl, William, Thomas, Duncan, Alma Decker, Clair, Raymond, Henry, Amos and Edith Wysong.

Dolly was previously employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a laborer in the local shops during World War II. Since 1944, she had been a member of Trans4mation Church, Altoona, previously the Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, watching baseball and football and working in her yard.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2018, at the funeral home where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Pastor Jim Balzano officiating. Interment will be made at Asbury Cemetery, Altoona.
