Edward K. ‘Ed’ Barstow

Edward K. “Ed” Barstow, 54, Altoona, passed away Wednesday.

He was born in Meadville, son of Kenneth Barstow and Mona (Hibbard) Bradway. On Sept. 4, 1982, he married Veronica Fuller.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Jessica L. (Brian) Umholtz of Altoona; a son, Benjamin L. (Corinne) Barstow of Altoona; three grandchildren: Lukas, Michaela and Jacob; his mother; a brother, Larry Barstow of Meadville; his stepfather, Marvin Bradway of Altoona; and a stepbrother, Bryan Bradway.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Ed was a 1982 graduate of the Linesville High School. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He was employed by the City of Altoona as a fireman for 25 years and as assistant chief for 15 years.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and he enjoyed hunting and woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc. 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Pastor Rodney Ingram officiating. Interment will be at Kiser Hill Cemetery, Meadville.
