Catherine H. ‘Katie’ Turner

Catherine H. “Katie” Turner, 73, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.

She was born in Beloit, Wis., daughter of the late Frank and Laura (Brown) Austin. On Feb. 7, 2009, she married Robert Turner in Altoona.

Surviving are her husband; two sons: George Decker and wife, Kendra, and David Decker and wife, Stephanie; two stepdaughters: Becky Merilli and Brenda Tyler; four grandchildren: Sydney, Logan, Raegan and Rylie Decker; five stepgrandchildren: Samantha, Troy, Kristin, Miranda and Jennie; a sister, Mary Ryman; and a brother, Jim Austin and wife, Patricia.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Manson; and a brother, David Manson.

Katie was a graduate of Beloit Memorial High School in Wisconsin. She retired as a home health care worker for United Cerebral Palsy.

She was a member of Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, and a member of the Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed serving the Lord, Awana and watching Altoona Area High School girls basketball games.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, Pastor Dave McClanahan officiating. Entombment will be held afterward at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
