Mary Louise Winters

Mary Louise Winters, 96, Cumberland, Md., formerly of Hollidays­burg, passed away Monday at her daughter’s home, where she had resided for the past 15 years, surrounded by her family.

She was born in East Freedom, daughter of the late David L. Dodson and Alma (Clark) Dodson.

Surviving are two daughters: Alma Hall and husband, Charles, of Pawcatuck, Conn., and Mary DeWitt of Cumberland, Md.; six grandchildren: Cathy Whitehead and husband, Roger, of North Stonington, Conn., Tracy Boisclair and husband, Leo, of Westerly, R.I., Brian Cook of Westerly, R.I., Michael Cook of Pawcatuck, Conn., and Amy Robinette and husband, John, David DeWitt and Becky DeShong and husband, A.J., all of Cumberland, Md.; 13 great-grandchildren, including a special grandson, Taber Robinette, who will honor her by serving at her Mass; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Patty Winters, whom she talked to weekly; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Francis J. “Dink” Winters, on May 7, 2003; a brother, Robert Dodson; a son-in-law, Larry DeWitt; and a great-grandson, Stephen Ryan Boisclair. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mary Louise had previously worked for Warner’s Florist, Hollidaysburg.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Her favorite hobby was playing bingo. After moving to Cumber­land to live with her daughter, Mary Louise continued playing bingo several nights a week at her favorite place, the Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed spending time each week with all of the kind people that she met there, and she appreciated how helpful they always were, especially Cindy, Diane, Ruth Ann, Dot, Carl and many others.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Thursday, Monsignor Stanley Carson celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg. Arrange­ments are by Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, Md.
