Laura Nevada (Brandt) Collier

Laura Nevada (Brandt) Collier, 87, formerly of Altoona, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, surrounded by family and loved ones, at the home of her daughter in Helotes, Texas.
She was born in Altoona. She married her high school sweetheart, John Collier, and they traveled the world as a military family, later settling in San Antonio, Texas.
Surviving are two daughters: Laura B. Tucker of Helotes, Texas, and Denise M. Johnson of Shickshinny; five grandchildren: Marjorie Lea, Jimmy, Christopher, Tiffany and Lauren; seven great-grandchildren: Tanner, Conner, Mathew, McKenzie, Sophia, Bella and Ava Johnny Collier; two brothers: Sam and Fred Brandt; and a sister, Virginia “Dee Dee” Brandt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Alan Collier; and a son, John A. Collier.
Laura was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School. She volunteered at the adult probation office and was a devoted church member who spent most of her time at the Marbach Christian Church, San Antonio, Texas.
A private graveside service was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Arrangements were by Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.
