Kathleen W. ‘Kathy’ Kensinger

Kathleen W. “Kathy” Kensinger, 71, Roaring Spring, died Saturday afternoon at Altoona Center for Nursing Care after a brief illness.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late D. Roy and Gertrude (Riley) Wertman. She was twice married; first to Kenneth E. Sollenberger and then to Steven D. Kensinger.

Surviving are two brothers: Thomas R. Wertman and wife, Robin, of Brenham, Texas, and Brant R. Wertman and wife, Carolyn, of Roaring Spring; two sisters: Mary Jo Mahon and husband, George, of Altoona and Valerie McGrath and husband, Richard, of Perrysburg, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael L. Wertman.

Kathy was a 1964 graduate of Central High School. She retired as an administrative assistant for Spring Cove School District, and she had also owned and managed Kensinger Electric. She was previously employed at Appleton Papers, Roaring Spring.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Woodbury.

She enjoyed reading, working jigsaw puzzles and playing word and number games, and she was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27, 2018, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Faith United Methodist Church, Woodbury, the Rev. Mick Dawes officiating. Inurnment will be made in Fair-view Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy’s memory may be given to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
