Joe W. Long

Joe W. Long, 89, Duncansville, died Monday at his residence.

He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Edward Blair “Butch” and Elva M. (Dodson) Long. He married Aldine J. Walters, who preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2009.

Surviving are three nieces; two nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Cyril Dean “Bud” Long; and a sister, Loretta Thompson.

Joe was a 1945 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a hospital medic during WWII. In 1992, he retired a truck driver for New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc.

He was a past member of Hicks United Methodist Church, Duncansville, and East Freedom United Methodist Church. He was an avid camper, and he enjoyed tinkering with mechanical work.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Interment will be held at Carson Valley Cemetery.
