Dennis A. Beach

Dennis A. Beach, 76, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, in Bradenton, Fla.
He was born and raised in Martinsburg, where his father was the borough manager and his mother was director of nursing at Nason Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Louise; a daughter, Melissa Beach of Dublin, Ohio; and a son, LCDR Matthew Beach; Bre (Theiss) Beach; a granddaughter, Abby Beach of Aiea, Hawaii; a sister, Linda Beach, in Florida; several cousins across the country, who lovingly remember him; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Mark and Elaine Terrell of Springfield, Ohio.
A lifelong learner, Dennis earned multiple degrees, beginning in 1963 with a B.A. in English from Grace College, Winona Lake, Ind. He met his wife, Louise, while in college and continued his education with a master’s in divinity from Grace Seminary. He represented Grace College and Seminary traveling with “The Herald’s of Grace,” a men’s quartet, for several years. He pastored in Northeastern Ohio and Southern California. While in California, he received a doctorate of divinity from Grace Graduate School, Long Beach, Calif., and an education degree from Biola University, La Mirada, Calif. Later, he received a master’s in counseling from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He retired as a counselor for Springfield City Schools.
Many will remember his gift of music to the Springfield community as a singer for the Community Lyric Chorus, United Senior Services Chorus, First Christian Choir, First Christian Men’s Quartet and as a soloist for various organizations.
Funeral arrangements are pending until LCDR Matthew Beach of the U.S.S. Hawaii is on leave.
