Cassandra L. Weikert

Cassandra L. Weikert, 75, Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Johnstown, daughter of the late George R. and Frances (Long) Lawson. She was united in marriage to J. David Weikert on Aug. 5, 1967, at the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years; two children: Lisa M. (Weikert) Mancinelli and her husband, John, of Hollidaysburg and David A. Weikert and his wife, Courtney, of Bethlehem; four grandchildren: Jack, Isabella and Henry Weikert and Robert Mancinelli; seven siblings: Patricia Mock, Susan Maness and her husband, Archie, Virginia Richie, James Lawson and his wife, Renie, Linda Houp and her husband, Glenn, David Lawson and his wife, Donna, and Richard Lawson and his wife, Deborah; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: Clara Fluder, George Ray Lawson Jr. and Garnet Lawson.
Cassandra was a 1962 graduate of Huntingdon High School and received a registered nursing degree from the Philipsburg Hospital School of Nursing, Philipsburg. Throughout her employment career as an RN, she worked at a number of hospitals, and for many years she was the plant nurse at Owens Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon. She retired from the Home Nursing Agency, Huntingdon.
She attended the Community Chapel of Hesston, and she enjoyed being a member of the Huntingdon High School Class of 1962 planning committee.
Cassandra cherished taking various adventures with her husband, and above all, her family was the center of her life. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 9, 2018, at John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at the Community Chapel of Hesston, 12773 Turkey Farm Road, Hesston, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Scott Decker officiating. Committal will be at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon, Pastor Glenford Amstutz officiating.
