Albert W. ‘Mr. K’ Kirkpatrick Sr.

Albert W. “Mr. K” Kirkpatrick Sr., 83, Altoona, died Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Danville, son of the late Earl Robert and Esther (Kelley) Kirkpatrick Sr. On July 14, 1958, he married Prudence M. Chesney in Altoona. She preceded him in death in June 1989.

Surviving are two children: Albert W. Kirkpatrick Jr. and girlfriend, Stephanie Moore, and Kelly A. Chaplin and husband, Thomas; two grandchildren: Kylee A. Meyer and Austin W. Kirkpatrick; and a sister, Iva Forshey.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

He was a 1954 graduate of Bellwood High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the VA Hospital as a warehouse chief after 30 years.

Al enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and hanging by his pool. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. He was a man of faith, and he took time each day to read his Bible.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., Pastor Bryan Sandell officiating.
