Paul W. Winslow

Paul W. Winslow 88, Coalport, died in the emergency room at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Patton, son of the late B. Harvey Sr. and Regina (Ott) Winslow.
Surviving are two daughters: Paula (Paul) Warfield of Ashville and Lois (Clair) Waterhouse of Coalport; two grandchildren: Steven (Margaret) Warfield of Patton and Jennifer (Michael) Storm of Tyrone; two great-granddaughters: Harper and Regina Storm; two brothers: Raymond of Waldwick, N.J., and Erik (Kathleen) of Olney, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. (Rhue) Winslow, on April 5, 2015; two brothers: John O. and Benjamin H. Jr.; and a sister, Myra Miller.
Paul was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, where he served during the occupation of Japan and Korea. In 1952, he graduated from Indiana State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree in education. In 1957, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a master’s degree in education administration along with additional credits. He worked as a teacher and administrator for Glendale School District, formerly BCI School District, for 41 years.
He was a member of several community service organizations, and she erved on Coalport Borough as secretary and treasurer for 60 years. He was a charter member of the Coalport Lions Club for more than 50 years; the chairman and founding member of Moshannon Valley COG; a life-member of the Coalport Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7043; a life-member of the Patton American Legion Post No. 614; a chairman of BCI Municipal Authority since its organization; and a member of St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport.
He was an avid fan of Penn State football, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and doting on his great-granddaughters.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport, where a Vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport, the Rev. Zab Amar celebrant. Committal will be at Fairview Cemetery, Patton. Military rites will be performed by the Coalport VFW and Patton American Legion.
