Eleanor W. Shambach

Eleanor W. Shambach, 94, Everett, passed away Tuesday.
She was born in Brotherton, daughter of the late George Albert and Leora Belle (Mankemeyer) Wright. On March 18, 1947, she married John M. Shambach Sr. in Everett, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2012.
Surviving are two children: John Shambach Jr. and wife, Charlene, of Melbourne, Fla., and Joni Whetstone of Altoona; three grandchildren: Bradley Shambach and wife, Brooke, Aaron Shambach and wife, Renee, and Leanna Meiser and husband, Will; and four great-grandchildren: Riley, Avery, Sophie and Liam.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alton Wright.
Eleanor was a 1940 graduate of Everett Area High School. Alongside her husband, she was the owner and operator of Sunset Hill Motel, Breezewood, and Carolyn Courts, Everett. She retired after selling the motels.
She enjoyed playing piano, organ and flute, as well as the card game, bridge. She also enjoyed cooking, and she was a licensed real estate agent.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona, the Rev. Dr. Barry Folmar officiating. A private interment will be held at Everett Cemetery. Arrangements are by Akers Funeral Home Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Eleanor may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
