Ronald E. Amick

Ronald E. Amick, 81, a resident at Autumn Estates, formerly of Roaring Spring, died Thursday morning at Altoona Center for Nursing Care following a brief illness.

He was born in Woodbury, son of the late Elery David and Mary A. (Kauffman) Amick.

Surviving are two sisters: Ethel M. Finnegan of Altoona and Ruth A. Ickes of Queen; two brothers: Paul H. Amick in Louisiana and Fred E. Amick of Altoona; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends: Kenneth and Mary Ann Bathurst of Roaring Spring.

He was preceded in death by six siblings: Lois J. Mahon, Shirley E. Amick, Elery W. Amick, Mary Jane Amick, Gladys M. Amick and an infant brother, Clarence K. Amick.

Ron was previously employed at Benson Sanitation, Duncansville; cutting timber with his cousin, Wilford Helsel; and had delivered the Altoona Mirror.

He attended Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring, and the Altoona Alliance Church. Ron was a life member and former fire police for the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, Roaring Spring.

He enjoyed puzzle books, delivering the newspapers, going to Martin’s General Store, Claysburg, for hot chocolate with Kenny and watching deer on his brother Fred’s porch.

Friends will be received from 1 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at the Altoona Alliance Church, Altoona, the Rev. Timothy McGarvey officiating. Arrangements are by Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
