Jesse W. ‘Pud’ Irvin

Jesse W. “Pud” Irvin, 90, Williamsburg, passed away peacefully late Tuesday at his residence.

He was born in Williams-burg, son of the late Jesse M. and Lillie (Parks) Irvin. On May 28, 1948, he married Margaret E. Farringer in Williamsburg, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2014.

Surviving are three sons: L. Dennis (Sherri) of Story, Wyo., and Gary G. (Charlotte) and Kevin W., both of Williamsburg; a daughter, Kim (Rob) Doolittle of Kalamazoo, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Loose of Williamsburg; and a brother, Donald of Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin A. Irvin; two brothers: Melvin and Nelson; and three sisters: Beatrice Shock, Bernice Mock and Lucille Detwiler.

Pud was a 1945 graduate of Williamsburg High School, and he was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, serving from 1945-47 and attaining the rank of private first class. In 1989, he retired as a machine tender for U.S. Envelope (Westvaco), Williamsburg.

He was a longtime member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, and he was also a member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post No. 456, Williamsburg Sports-man’s Club and the former Williamsburg VFW Memorial Post No. 6086.

Pud enjoyed gardening, hunting and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and he also loved and excelled at making cane furniture.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Sat-urday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Pastors Heather A. Wurst and Richard J. Harter officiating. A private interment will be held at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton Depot, Huntingdon County.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to Williamsburg Ambulance Club or Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
