Betty Lucille ‘Lou’ Brumbaugh

Betty Lucille “Lou” Brumbaugh, 79, Saxton, died Wednesday evening at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, after a brief illness.

She was born in Aitch, daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Busseck) Starr. On Oct. 11, 1957, she married Stanley R. Brumbaugh.

Surviving are her husband; three children: Franklin R. Brumbaugh and wife, Elizabeth, of New Enterprise, Cheryl L. Kurtz and husband, Ron, of Williamsburg and Darryl G. Brumbaugh and wife, Anita, of Charleston, N.C.; 10 grandchildren: Franklin, Eric, Angelina, Nina, Patrick, Stacey, Danelle, Brent, Joshua and Justin; 12 great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Donna Oberman, Linda Neuder and husband, Tim, Sandy Roland and husband, Bill, and Carol Eller and husband, Levi.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori A. McConnell; a brother, Millard Starr; and a brother-in-law, Blair Oberman.

Betty was a 1956 graduate of Saxton Liberty High School, and she had previously been employed at Cove Shoe Co. and Bridenbaugh Orchards.

She was a member of Martinsburg Brethren in Christ Church, and she had also attended Nisland Independent Church while residing in South Dakota.

Betty enjoyed taking care of all of her animals: bears, goats and various small animals. She also liked the color green, decorating for the holidays and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday,

Dec. 27, 2017, Pastor Earl Herr officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
