Vila Ann ‘Fiddle’ Dillon

Vila Ann “Fiddle” Dillon, 82, Aiken, S.C., formerly of Tyrone, died Tuesday after a six-year battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Dobbs) Rodgers.

Surviving are two daughters: Janice (Dillon) Hoffman of Aiken, S.C., and Jayne Dillon of Mill Creek; a son, Donny Dillon of Tyrone; six grandchildren: Jenna Dillon of Altoona, Caitlinn Gomes of Altoona, Seth Brenneman of Huntingdon and Joshua Leonard, Jacob Leonard and Ian Hoffman of Aiken, S.C.; three sisters: Alice Kobuck of Tyrone, Donna Lewis of Tyrone and Sandy Nelson of Gallitzin; and three brothers: Ray Rodgers of Tyrone, Alan Rodgers of Bellwood and Charles Rodgers in Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by a son, George T. Dillon; a granddaughter, Rachel Brenneman, a brother, Frank E. Rodgers; and her boyfriend of 40 years, Ralph “Gene” Hagg.

Vila was a 1954 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and worked at Chicago Rivet & Machine Co.

Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at the parish hall at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Tyrone.
