Richard W. ‘Dick’ Brubaker

Richard W. “Dick” Brubaker, 79, Altoona, passed away Monday evening at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert and Vada (Saudrus) Brubaker. On July 22, 1956, he married Donna Jean Runk in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years; two children: Richard A. “Rick” Brubaker and wife, Rebecca, of Ohiopyle, and Sherry L. Freet (Al) of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren: Caitlin Brubaker, Heather (Clayton) Paulding, Adam (Brittany) Freet and Andrew Freet (Amy Kaehr); five great-grandchildren: Edwin and Lucas Paulding and Jackson, Mackenzie and Lucy Freet; two brothers-in-law: Clair (Doris) Runk and Gordon Runk, both of Altoona; and two sisters-in-law: Beverly Wood in Wisconsin, and Judy Biddle of Altoona.

Dick served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and received the rank of lance corporal. He worked as a tractor-trailer driver for Hite Electric Co.

He was a member of Altoona Alliance Church as well as Juniata Gap Sportsmen’s Association. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed spending time out on his boat.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, Pastor Tim McGarvery officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
