Paul Francis McNulty, 85, Altoona, a native of Patton, passed away peacefully on Thursday at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Patton, son of the late Augustine and Roseann (Farabaugh) McNulty.

Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy (Bertison) McNulty, to whom he was married 62 years; five children: Paula McNulty of Altoona, Marianne (Tim) Houser of Ebensburg, Kevin (Darla) McNulty of Altoona, Linda (Greg) Servello of Altoona and Monica (Mark) Liebal of Roaring Spring; 18 grandchildren: John Paul (Vanessa) Houser, Joseph Houser, Cecilia (Chris) Farabaugh, Claire Houser, Daniel (Liz) McNulty, Jill (Ryan) DeWeese, Alex (Jessica) McNulty, Isaac and Morgan McNulty, Nick, Jackie, Dorothy, Dana and Kim Servello and Tori, Meg, Paul and Emily Liebal; 11 great-grandchildren: Sebastian and Adelaide Houser, Meredith, Samantha, Lainey and Case McNulty, Naomi, Aiven and Tobias DeWeese and Hayli and Teagan McNulty; and two brothers: Thomas McNulty of Hollidaysburg, and Joseph McNulty of Patton.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Joseph McNulty; two sisters: Doris Swab and Verna Yencho; a brother, Benedict; and an infant brother and sister.

Paul was a graduate of Patton High School and Altoona School of Commerce. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served as a cryptographer in Morocco and Germany. He retired as an accountant for Vipond & Vipond Construction.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the annual trips to the Outer Banks, a family tradition for more than 40 years. He also enjoyed trips to the Poconos and traveling with Dorothy, as well as hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons and watching Altoona Curve and Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., 300 N. Julian St., Ebensburg, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona, the Rev. D. Timothy Grimme celebrant. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the children’s charity of one’s choice.
