Robert J. Bosar

Robert J. Bosar, 81, Patton RD, died Friday at his residence.

He was born in Patton RD, son of the late Robert R. and Margarette (Krise) Bosar.

Surviving are four children: Cynthia Bosar-Walker of Fayetteville, N.C., Robert David (Monica) of Nashville, Ind., Barbara (Jim) Lewis of Chest Springs and Jim (Barbara) of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Churella of Patton RD and Shirley Miller in California; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marie Frederick, on June 6, 2012.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired as a plant mechanic from the Ebensburg Center. He was a former member of the Bakerton VFW, where he served as commander from 1991-92. He was a life member of the Ashville VFW and a member of the NRA and St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Bob enjoyed making handcrafted rag rugs, going to craft shows and his blueberry patch.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, where a rosary will be recited. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Dysart, the Rev. Christopher Lemme, TOR, celebrant. Committal will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Ashville VFW and other local military organizations.

The family suggests that contributions be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Bob’s memory.
