Michael M. McMahon

Michael M. McMahon, 72, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Montrose and Zora F. (Miller) McMahon. On June 24, 1972, he married Deborah (Faretta) McMahon.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Dawn M. (Scott) Igoe and Carole Ann McMahon (Chad) Confer, all of Altoona; and three grandchildren: Dalton, Delaney and Dylan Igoe.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell McMahon; and a sister, Jean Reffner.

Michael was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School and a graduate of Lycoming College, Williamsport. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He worked for the family business, McMahon’s Dairy. He was also part owner of Altoona Harley Davidson, and he retired as a driver for the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. He was a member of Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns Society and Swiss Club, and he enjoyed going to NASCAR races.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Pastor Ralph Hamer officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
