Gerard McCoy, 62, Loretto, RD, died Monday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Spangler, son of Charles “Shocky” and Mary (Little) McCoy. On Aug. 13, 1977, he married Loretta Keefe in Hastings.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years; three children: Melanie (Joe) Kordish and Lucas, both of Ebensburg, and C.J. of Pittsburgh; his mother of Chest Springs; three sisters: Katy Wilt and Sally Miller, both of Chest Springs, and Marilyn (Randy) Miles of Coalport, RD; several aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ashley; and his father.
Gerard retired from Barnes and Tucker Coal Co. and Tanoma Coal Mine in 2000 after 26 years of service. He then worked for Penn Dot for 14 years.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and Ebensburg Local, Chest Springs Sportsmen and St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs.
Gerard was an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks, and he enjoyed family activities, helping others, going to ball games, hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, where a Rosary will be recited Thursday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, the Rev. Christopher Lemme, TOR, celebrant. Committal will be at the church cemetery.
