David P. Lanzendorfer

David P. Lanzendorfer, 65, Duncansville, passed away Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Roger P. and Alberta M. (Noel) Lanzendorfer. He married Helen M. Weitzel in Cumberland, Md., on Aug. 30, 1968.

Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage; a daughter, Lorie M. Thompson and husband, Boyd, of Duncansville; a son, Shawn P. and wife, Paula, of Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Katie Weyant and husband, Roman, and Cody Thompson; a great-granddaughter not yet born; four brothers: James R. and wife, Diana, in Kentucky, Roger P. and wife, Kim, and Michael L., all of Duncansville and Jerry T. of East Freedom; three sisters: Alice Anders, Brenda Salyards and husband, Bob, all of East Freedom, and Sandy Hodge and husband, Jerry, of Duncansville.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin; and three sisters: Elaine Oakes, Nancy Ake and Linda Lanzendorfer.

David retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. after 35 years of service as superintendent in the blacktop department. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, and a life member of Duncansville VFW Post 8724. He enjoyed his dog and best friend, Chip, the outdoors, especially fishing and woodworking in his woodshed with family and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, by Father Allen P. Zeth. Committal will be at New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick School, Newry, or Mending Hearts, 4717 E. Loop Road, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
