Wilfred ‘Sam’ Brumbaugh

Aug. 20, 1941 – Sept. 23, 2017

Wilfred “Sam” Brumbaugh, 76, Roaring Spring, died Saturday morning at home after a brief illness.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Elvin and Mae (Amick) Brumbaugh. He married Patricia L. Murphy on July 12, 1960.

Surviving are his wife; six children: Wayne Brumbaugh of Woodbury, Gregory Brumbaugh and wife, Patty, of Roaring Spring, Mark Brumbaugh and wife, Julie, of Roaring Spring, Shari Reyan and husband, John, of New Enterprise, Jeffrey Brumbaugh of Roaring Spring, and Brenda Kensinger and husband, Joe, of Martinsburg; a son-in-law, Randy Imler of Woodbury; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers: Terry Brumbaugh (Juanita), Gary Brumbaugh (Barb), Gene Brumbaugh and Elvin Brumbaugh.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Imler; four brothers: his twin Gerald, Bob, Ronald and Barry; and a sister, Alice Garber.

Sam retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. in 2003 after 40 years of service. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, where he had served as sexton for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and especially spending time with his family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, the Rev. Gerald McCuller officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sam’s memory may be given to First Church of the Brethren, 901 Bloomfield St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
