Linda S. Bacon

Linda S. Bacon, 71, Bellwood, died Monday evening at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Hornell, N.Y., daughter of the late Ernest James and Luella Margaret (Evingham) Knight. On June 16, 1972, she married Richard L. “Dick” Bacon at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Canisteo, N.Y.

Surviving are her husband; five children: Ronaland M. Boyd of Roaring Spring, Bert Edwin James Clark of Tyrone, Amy Marie Noel of Riggles Gap, Richard Leroy Bacon II of Scranton and William M. Bacon of Bellwood; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Rodney of Canisteo, N.Y., John of Corning, N.Y., and Gary of Cohocton, N.Y.; and two sisters: Carol Ritter of Hornell, N.Y., and Marjorie Henry of Canisteo, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Doris June, Jimmie, Archie and Jack Knight.

Linda formerly worked as a nurse’s aide at St. James Hospital in New York, and she later retired as a food service worker at Mercy Hospital, Altoona.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star New York Chapter and Daughters of the American Revolution. She volunteered her time as a cook at Fort Roberdeau and was a Red Cross Disaster Services volunteer, a Cub Scout leader, and she also volunteered for ACLD (Adults and Children with Learning and Develop­mental Disabilities). Linda enjoyed baking, cooking and vegetable and flower gardening.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 14, 2017, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Brown and Powers Funeral Home, Canisteo, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at

10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Brown and Powers Funeral Home, Canisteo, N.Y. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo, N.Y.
