William M. ‘Kitty Kat’ Ritchey Sr.

William M. “Kitty Kat” Ritchey Sr., 87, Claysburg, passed away Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late William H. and Jennie (Weyandt) Ritchey. On Jan. 3, 1950, he married Carmen L. Wilt in Winchester, Va., and she preceded him in death on April 11, 1989.

Surviving are two sons: William M. Ritchey Jr. and wife, Glenda, and Thomas L. Ritchey and wife, Patty, all of Claysburg; five grandchildren: Tami Fisher, Eric Ritchey, Rebecca Dodson, Billy Ritchey and Brian Ritchey; seven great-grandchildren: Trace, Leah, David, Lauren, Olivia, Brooke and Carmen; and four siblings: Margaret Hightower and Elwood, Dennis and Ken Ritchey.

He was preceded in death by 11 siblings: Mabel Cox, Betty, Catherine Hite, Ralph, Sherm, Genevieve Mountain, Harold, Ginger, Floyd, Darlene and Lois; and a special friend, Gladys Dodson.

Bill retired as a car man for Conrail with more than 42 years of service. He was also a woodcutter for many years.

He enjoyed country music, hunting and traveling to his hunting camp in Potter County with family and friends.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Pastor Ron Bashore officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
