John Jeffery Woomer

John Jeffery Woomer, 74, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Earl H. “Trig” and Louise (Brumbaugh) Woomer.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Denise (Rodriguez) Woomer; a loving son, John C. (Melissa) Woomer of Altoona; four grandchildren to whom he was a devoted grandfather: Joshua Nicholas Noon, Nicole Marie, Kristen Ann and Jordan Christopher Woomer; a great-grandson and the apple of his eye, Liam Michael Switzer; a brother, Fred (Martha) Woomer of Altoona; and two sisters: Marlene (Jim) Hahn of Pittsburgh and Virginia “Ginger” (Anthony) Carpino of Gainesville, Va.
John was a 1962 graduate of Altoona Area High School, and he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Imler’s Poultry and had previously worked for Stroehmann’s Bakery.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, and he was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at Santella Funeral Home, Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, it has been requested that donations in memory of John be made to the family.
