Alma M. (Dixon) Reismeier, 84, Altoona, died Saturday evening at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank T. and Violet (McGuire) Dixon. On April 11, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Fred A. Reismeier, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Altoona.

Surviving are her husband; five children: Daniel (Dolores) of Mechanics­burg, Matthew (Lori) of College Station, Texas, Mark (Joni) and Mary Ann (John) Mirobelli, both of Altoona, and Kathy (Paul) DeLongis of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Beatrice Maierhofer of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Francis, Alfred, Robert and Carl.

Alma was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She devoted her life to raising her children.

Alma was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. She enjoyed reading and traveling and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Proud of her heritage, Alma was a descendant of Capt. Michael McGuire, founder of the McGuire Settlement, which became the Borough of Loretto.

There will be no visitation. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that donations in memory of Alma be made to the Altoona Area Public Library. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
