Mark W. ‘Big Kahuna’ Kopp

Mark W. “Big Kahuna” Kopp, 54, Altoona, died unexpectedly Saturday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of Mary Louise (Franks) Kopp and the late William N. Kopp.
Surviving are his mother of Hollidaysburg; a son, Mark of James Creek; two brothers: Dr. Brian Kopp of Hollidaysburg and Timothy Kopp (Julie) of Hollidaysburg; a sister, Roseann Haire (Stephen) of New Cumberland; eight nieces and nephews: Shawn Tipton, Michael, Marie and Timothy Kopp and Micah, Allison, Jesse and Luke Haire; and a great-niece, Paige Tipton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Tipton.
Mark was a 1981 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and attended Penn State Altoona. He worked as an IT specialist for IU8 for the past 17 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont, the Blair Game Hunting and Fishing Club (Riggles Gap Sportsman’s Club), Unter Uns, Cesare Battisti, Heidelberg Country Club and Burgi’s Low Life Riders.
He enjoyed going shooting with his son, riding his motorcycle and especially spending time with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday July 6, 2017, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Becker. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
