Audrey ‘Jean’ Claar
March 21, 1940 - July 13, 2017
Audrey “Jean” Claar, 77, Queen, passed away Thursday, on what would have been her 60th wedding anniversary. She was born in Imler, daughter of the late Dorsey and Lois (Way) Weyant. She married Chester R. “Chet” Claar on July 13, 1957, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2011.
Surviving are a son, Gary R. Claar and wife, Mary Ann, of Hollidays-burg; three grandchildren: Christopher of Casselberry, Fla., Ryan of Harrisburg and Jayme of Altoona; three sisters: Janet Claar of Claysburg, Sally Diehl and husband, Bob, of Everett, Mona Morehead and husband, Bob, of York; two brothers: Marvin Weyant and Loren Weyant and wife, Kathy, all of York; and a special niece, Carla Claar.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: Lamont, Larry, Reed, Neil and Edward Weyant.
Jean attended Bedford High School and worked for 30 years in shoe factories in Martinsburg and Altoona.
Jean was a member of Queen United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped with various activities in the church. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and spending time with her family, who will miss her greatly.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, with Pastor John Mackey officiating. Interment will be at Greenfield Cemetery.
