Marjorie A. ‘Marge’ Ziegler

Marjorie A. “Marge” Ziegler, 90, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Monday at the home.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Merle and Norah (Romig) Short. On Sept. 6, 1950, she married James M. Ziegler, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2014.
Surviving are three daughters: Beth (Bill) Hofer of Duncansville, Sharon Ziegler of Sterling, Va., and Susan (Jon) Fries of Altoona; a son, Jerry Ziegler of Altoona; three grandchildren: Chris (Wally) Okpych, Jim (Ronna) Hofer and Jarrett Ziegler; three great-grandchildren: Emma and Olive Okpych and Charlie Hofer; and a close family friend, Gregg Webster.
Marge was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and rooting for her favorite teams: Penn State, the Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. She dedicated her life to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her love and support of her family and her strong belief in church and God.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Sacred Heart Church, 511 20th St., Altoona, Father Lubomir Strecok celebrant. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
