F. Patrick Madden

F. Patrick Madden, 94, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Frank and Madeline (Beigle) Madden. On

June 9, 1947, he married Loretta J. Kunsman in Hollidaysburg, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1995, after having shared 48 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Jane M. Becker and husband, John, of Hollidaysburg, and Merrin Brown and husband, Albert, in Washington; two sons: Frank of Duncans­ville, and Dave and wife, Diane L., of Hollidaysburg; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Pat Barnes.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Barnes; and a grandson, Scott James Madden.

Patrick was a 1940 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. In 1950, he graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, having served in Japan. He retired as president of Madden Boiler Works, Hollidaysburg, after 70 years of service.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, as well as Kiwanis and PA Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE). He enjoyed hunting, walking and working.

Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Father Anthony Legarski celebrant. Committal will be at New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
