Wilford L. ‘Willy’ Walters

April 6, 1935 – March 17, 2017


Wilford L. “Willy” Walters, 81, Duncansville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Eli and Sarah (Clapper) Walters. On Dec. 9, 1961, he married Carol Alene Jackson.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Kevin (Robin) of Duncansville and Eli (Lauren) of State College; a daughter, Penny Hood (Brian) of Fort Washington, and eight grandchildren: Gregory, Zachary, Geena, Jesse, Gabriel, Evelyn, Benaiah and Victoria; a brother, Dean, of Roaring Spring; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six siblings; and two children: Kerry and Peggy.

He served with the U.S. Army from 1958-60 and was stationed in South Korea. He began his own lawn-mowing business at the age of 12 and worked as a self-employed painter, landscaper and general handyman for most of his life. He was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where he served over the years in various roles, including Sunday school teacher, youth adviser, trustee and a member of the financial board.

Willy enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, sports enthusiast and storyteller. His greatest joy was to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home, 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville. A funeral service will be held at

11 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Pastor Bradley Runkle officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
