Robert P. Broadwater

Robert P. Broadwater, 58, Bellwood, formerly of Salisbury, died Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Salisbury, son of Paul and Carolyn (Pritts) Broadwater.
Surviving are a daughter, Kelly C. (Shane) Cowher of Tyrone; three grandchildren: Kolby, Quinn and Sophia Cowher, all of Tyrone; his parents of Salisbury; and a nephew, Bobby Cummins of Salisbury.
Robert was a 1976 graduate of Salisbury Elk Lick High School, and he later earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He worked as a general manager of Perkins Restaurant, Altoona, and was also the accomplished author of more than 40 books on American history, particularly the Civil War.
He was an Eagle Scout, as well as a member of numerous writing and history organizations. He enjoyed public speaking and fishing.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 25, 2017, at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Pastor Randy Zitterbart officiating. Friends also will be received from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Salisbury, where a funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Alexa Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
