Charles Edward ‘Charlie’ Fisher Sr.

Charles Edward “Charlie” Fisher Sr., 83, formerly of Altoona, died Monday evening at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Earl Fisher and Ruth Fisher Andrews. On April 20, 1957, he married Annabelle Mae Clapper in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; three children: Charles E. Fisher Jr. and wife, Linda, John L. Fisher and wife, Candy, daughter Deborah L. Wall and husband, John, all of Altoona; four grandchildren: Deanna Fisher of Altoona, Danielle Luteran and husband, Cory, of Hubbard, Ohio, and Megan and Nicole Wall, both of Altoona; two great-grandchildren: Curtis and Lauren Luteran, both of Hubbard, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Johnson of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by four siblings: George Fisher, Pearl Andrews, Ethel Bookas and Mae Nebelski.

Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War from 1953-55. He retired from the maintenance department of ServiceMaster, and he had previously been employed as a baker for Hallers Bakery for more than 40 years. He enjoyed hunting and professional wrestling.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, James Walker officiating. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society, Blair County Unit, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
