Richard K. Ellenberger

Richard K. Ellenberger, 85, Altoona, died Dec. 30, 2016, at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg.
He was born in Indiana, Pa., son of the late William Homer Ellenberger and Beatrice (Kelley) Ellenberger. He married Charlene (Shacikoski) on Dec. 3, 1955. She died in June 2005.
Surviving are a companion, Gloria Bowser, of Altoona; two sons: Daniel C. of Mechanicsburg and Curtis W. (Gail) of Scottdale; four grandchildren: Ryan M. of Robesonia, Richard P. of Hanover and Samuel C. and Jaimie L., both of Scottdale; two great-grandchildren: Kaydence of Robesonia and Gavin of Hanover.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen; and two brothers: Thomas and William.
Richard was a graduate of Homer City High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tri State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a longtime sales engineer at American Roller Bearing Co.
Richard was a member of America Legion Post 493, Homer City, and was a founding member and first assistant fire chief of Holiday Park Fire Department. Richard attended First Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed golf and singing.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: www.panfoundation.org.
