Lori J. Kozlowski

Lori J. Kozlowski, 56, Freeland, Md., died Wednesday of complications from lung cancer.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Robert L. and Louise (Campbell) Irwin.

Surviving are her husband, Dave; two children: Christopher of Freeland, Md., and Rebecca of Arlington, Va.; her parents; and a brother, Robert E. (Patricia) Irwin of Slatington.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Paul A. Irwin; and her grandparents: Albert L. and Genevieve Campbell and Paul and Helen Irwin.

Lori was a 1974 graduate of Hollidaysburg Catholic School. In 1978, she graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School. She joined Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority in 1981, and in 1982, she graduated cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science in nursing. She was a 1989 graduate of University of Maryland with a master of science in nursing and a 1995 graduate of the post-master’s nurse practitioner program.

For 34 years, she worked as a member of the critical staff and as an advanced practice nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital and University, working from 1982-2016.

She received the following academic awards: the 1989 Excellence in Maternal Child Health Award from University of Maryland and the American Association of Critical Care Nursing.

Since 1989, she was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Parkton.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, and Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at Ruck Towson Funeral Homes Inc., 1050 York Road, Towson, Md. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 18310 Middletown Road, Parkton, Md. Interment will be at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
