Jeanne M. ‘Mummum’ (McCall) Donnelly

Jeanne M. “Mummum” (McCall) Donnelly, 90, Upper Darby, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary C. (Robine) McCall. She married James R. Donnelly on June 24, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2011.

Surviving are her brother, C. Robert “Bobby” McCall (Shirley) in Indiana; her sister, Charlotte McCall of Altoona; her daughter, Kathleen McManus (Robert); three sons: Patrick (Janice), James (Anne) and Edward (Cheryl); 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond; her sister, M. DeLellis Milliron; and her daughter, Anne D. Cahill (Ted).

Jeanne worked as a secretary and administrative assistant for various companies, most recently in the undergraduate admissions office of Villanova University, from which she retired, but not before earning her associate of arts degree at the age of 66. She routinely saved the stamps from discarded college admission envelopes that came in from around the world and gave them to her husband, who was a stamp collector. She also enjoyed singing in the St. Laurence Parish choir.

She is famously remembered for the sending of birthday and holiday cards to extended family, friends and neighbors, always including a note. Jeanne was known to be able to stop squabbles with a stern “Here, here, we’ll have none of that.”

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, in Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at St. Laurence Parish, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby. Interment will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
