Donald A. Hatch

Donald A. Hatch, 95, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edwin C. and Viola (McElwee) Hatch.

Surviving are two brothers: Edwin C. “Ned” Jr. and wife, Sue, of Bellwood, and Nick in Alaska; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by all four of his children: J. Stephen, Donald Nelson, Beverly Ann Caudill and Philip T.; five siblings: Harry, Rose, Betty, Susan and Allan; and two wives: Sarah Elizabeth in 1982 and Linda in 2008.

Donald was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps in both WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving as a sergeant in Northern China, Guadalcanal and Okinawa. He retired as a conductor for River Terminal Railroad, Cleveland. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or service. Arrangements are by Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., Duncansville.
