D. Barry Bryner

D. Barry Bryner, 74, Altoona, passed away Thursday morning at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Connellsville, son of Ernest D. and Lyda (Morris) Bryner. He married Shirley J. Nakles on Dec. 18, 1965, in Blairsville, and she died Sept. 12, 2013, after having shared 47 years of marriage.
Surviving are a daughter, Maribeth Wesesky (Mark) of Pittsburgh; a son, Matthew (Beth) of Lancaster; and a grandson, Luke.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Overly.
Barry was a graduate of Connellsville High School and a 1970 graduate of Penn State University, earning a master’s equivalency in elementary education. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired from the Altoona Area School District as a teacher after 35 years of service. He was a member of Altoona Alliance Church, where he enjoyed singing.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. by Pastor Tim McGarvey. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.
